About Colombo
Overview
The commercial Capital of Colombo reflects the dynamic multicultural spirit that Sri Lanka has long been known for. Also, when travelling in and around its city limits one will encounter numerous sights and sounds that have helped shape Colombo into what it is today. From the bustling street markets of Pettah where bargaining is a norm, the sprawling and beautiful grounds of the University of Colombo to the glorious Gangaramaya Temple where time can be spent in silent prayer, the Galle Face Green abutting the Indian Ocean and the proposed Port City Project, Colombo is truly a traveler’s dream come true.
With increased infrastructure development set to dominate Colombo’s skyline, the business community would more or less be the beneficiaries of such initiatives. Thus, it is hoped that speedy growth and development plans which includes the current Port City Project will contribute towards positioning Colombo as a favoured destination for the conducting of one’s business affairs.
The tourism sector continues to keep abreast with modern trends and tastes and as a result a large number of acclaimed international hotel chains have been born in various parts of the city, targeting budget travel, business getaways as well as leisure escapes. The latter serves as one of the primary reasons for visiting Colombo.
Sri Lanka has also successfully managed the health and safety measures introduced in the beginning of 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
